Volunteer
Anyone 16 or older is encouraged to volunteer at the shelter. There is much to be done and so many deserving animals in need of one on one attention. Not only will the time you spend here brighten their day, it will brighten yours. *Volunteers under the age of 16 are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
Dog Houses
Like working with tools, building something? Each of our outside dogs have their own dog house in their runs. Normal wear and tear have left many of these houses in need of repair or total replacement.
Please consider building or repairing a dog house as your contribution to this very worthy organization.
Guardian Angel Program
Love animals? But for whatever reason are unable to own one. Become a member of our Guardian Angel Program. For $10 a month you can sponsor one of our wonderful dogs or cats. Your donation helps give medical care, food, warm blankets, and toys. P.A.W. will send you a picture of your "pet" along with monthly updates and will celebrate with you when your animal finds their true "forever home."
Become a Dog Walker
Finding yourself needing/wanting exercise more? How about exercising through walking? Need company? Consider taking a "walking buddy." All of our shelter dogs LOVE nothing better than a good long walk and pleasant conversation. Sadly our shelter employees do not always have the time needed to talk our dog population on these much needed and enjoyed walks. Do something HEALTHY for yourself and wonderful for the dogs.. Become a dog walker for P.A.W.! Not only will you physically feel better, so will your heart.
Come Cuddle Cats
Prefer purring and cuddling over barking and fetch? We invite you to come cuddle with our wonderful family of felines. We have all sizes, colors and breeds who would love nothing better than to be picked up, petted and pampered. Cats are a GREAT de-stresser, and in this day and age who couldn't use a little less stress? Call the shelter today and arrange a time for you and your new "lap blanket" to meet.
Fund Raising Events:
P.A.W. Animal Shelter is always looking for volunteers to help with fund raising ideas, promotions and marketing. If this is an area in which you thrive, please consider giving some of your enthusiam, ideas and time to this wondeful organization!
Pop Can Drive
The 3rd Saturday of every month is "PAW CAN" Saturday in Westland Mall parking lot in West Burlington, IA.
All are invited to drop off refundable bottles, cans and glass between the hours of 10 a.m. - 2p.m. These refundable items go a long way in helping the shelter meet it's yearly financial goals.
Permanent recycle bins are set up in front of the Shelter building at 2031 48th Street Fort Madison, IA. You may drop off your refundables there anytime.
Volunteers are always welcome to help sort the bottles, cans and glass.

Community Basket Tickets
Each year the Burlington Bee's organization as a way to raise money not only for themselves, but other non-profit organizations, sells Community Basket tickets. The winning ticket holder wins well over $15,000 of cash and prizes. $1 of each $2 ticket sale goes back to the organization who sold the ticket.
